Taking Dominion with the Mind of Christ
We’ve looked at how division in the nation of Israel mirrors the division in our world today. We’ve seen how a divided mind can weaken our God-given authority, and how a renewed mind awakens compassion. Now, let’s talk about living differently — taking dominion with the mind of Christ.
God has entrusted each of us with influence and responsibility. Your decisions matter. Your discernment matters. Your posture towards others matters.
To take dominion in a godly way means:
- Seeking God first in decision-making
- Listening to wise, godly counsel — not just popular opinion
- Allowing the Holy Spirit to renew your mind daily
- Acting with compassion, even when it costs you
- Choosing peace over pride
This isn’t easy. Life is complex. Decisions are nuanced. People are messy. But the good news is: we’re not on our own. The Spirit of God dwells within us to guide, strengthen, and steady us.
Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 10:5:
“We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
That’s dominion — starting in the mind. When we bring our thoughts, fears, and plans under the lordship of Jesus, we step into our true authority as His people.
Rehoboam’s story is both a warning and an invitation. It warns us of the cost of division and poor discernment. But it also invites us to trust God, listen to His voice, and walk in His wisdom.
Friends, let’s not follow the crowd. Let’s follow Christ. Let’s be people who think clearly, act wisely, and love deeply. In a divided world, that kind of faith will shine like a light on a hill.
