Testing What We Hear
Because prophecy is a spiritual gift, it should always be exercised wisely and carefully.
The Bible teaches us to test what we receive. A genuine prophetic word will never contradict Scripture because God never contradicts His own Word.
It is also wise to seek guidance from trusted church leaders, especially when a prophetic word relates to a significant life decision. God often brings confirmation through prayer, wise counsel and circumstances.
Above all, prophecy should never pressure or manipulate anyone. The Holy Spirit leads with love, gentleness and peace rather than fear or control.
Every Believer Can Encourage Others
Not everyone will stand on a stage and share prophetic messages, but every Christian can encourage others through words inspired by God’s Spirit.
Sometimes the most powerful ministry happens over a cup of coffee, during a Life Group meeting or while praying with a friend after a service.
As we spend time reading Scripture, praying and listening to God, He shapes our hearts so that we become people who naturally encourage those around us.
Listening for God’s Voice
At Bethany church near Sharston, we encourage people to pursue spiritual gifts with humility, wisdom and love. God still speaks today, and He desires His people to hear His voice.
As we stay rooted in the Bible and sensitive to the Holy Spirit, we become channels of God’s encouragement in a world that desperately needs hope.
