Living It Out – Blessed to Be a Blessing

At the heart of everything we believe at our Church in Cheadle is this simple truth: we are blessed to be a blessing.

Blessing was never meant to stop with us. From the very beginning, in Genesis 12:2–3, God tells Abraham that he will be blessed so that he can bless others. This principle carries all the way through Scripture—and into our lives today.

Joseph embodies this perfectly.

When famine struck, he didn’t use his position to secure comfort for himself alone. Instead, he used his wisdom, influence, and resources to provide for an entire nation—and even beyond.

People from all over came to Egypt for food, and lives were saved because Joseph chose to act with generosity and purpose.

But perhaps the most powerful moment comes later.

When Joseph’s brothers—the very ones who had betrayed him—came to him in need, he had every reason to respond with bitterness. Yet he chose forgiveness. He chose grace. He chose to bless.

That’s not easy. And it raises an important question for all of us:

Are we willing to bless even those who have hurt us?

At our Church in Cheadle, we believe this is where faith becomes real. It’s one thing to receive blessing—it’s another to extend it, especially when it’s undeserved.

Blessing others can take many forms. It might be using your skills to serve, offering your time, giving financially, or simply showing kindness and compassion.

It could be helping someone in need, supporting your local community, or getting involved in church life.

The opportunities are endless.

But it starts with a shift in mindset:

Everything I have is from God—and it’s not just for me.

When we live this way, we step into a bigger story. A story where our lives make a difference, not just for ourselves, but for others.

So wherever you are today, remember this:

You have been blessed.

And you are called to be a blessing.
