God has made us stewards
Scripture: Malachi 3:8–12; Romans 12:1
The Bible teaches that every believer is a steward — someone entrusted with gifts that ultimately belong to God. Stewardship is not limited to money; it includes our time, health, abilities, opportunities, and resources. Romans 12:1 urges us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. This is our true and proper worship.
When many people hear the word stewardship, they immediately think about finances. While money is certainly part of stewardship, God’s call is far broader. Everything we have comes from Him and is entrusted to us for His purposes. Our talents, our energy, our families, and our influence are all areas where we are called to be faithful.
Malachi 3 presents a challenging conversation between God and His people. God asks, “Will a mere mortal rob God?” — a shocking question designed to make His people reflect on their relationship with Him. The issue was not only financial but spiritual. The people had grown distant in heart, offering God what was convenient rather than what was honouring.
True stewardship begins with recognising God’s ownership over everything. We are not owners but managers of His blessings. When we grasp this truth, our perspective changes. Giving, serving, and living faithfully become acts of worship and gratitude.
As believers, stewardship is not about pressure or guilt; it is about trust and relationship. God invites us to partner with Him in His work and to live lives that reflect His generosity.
