Building a Relationship with God in Difficult Seasons

If God is always present, then the question becomes: how do we connect with Him, especially when life feels overwhelming?

The answer is relationship.

As a church in Manchester, we believe that faith is not just about belief—it’s about connection. And like any relationship, our relationship with God grows through communication.

In **Epistle to the Romans 10:17, we are told that faith comes from hearing the message. In other words, hearing from God is essential to growing in faith.

Think about any close friendship. You recognise someone’s voice because you’ve spent time listening to them. The same is true with God. The more we engage with His Word and spend time in prayer, the more familiar His voice becomes.

Jesus Himself modelled this. He often withdrew to quiet places early in the morning or late at night to pray. These weren’t random moments—they were intentional times of connection with the Father.

In today’s world, however, there’s a challenge.

We are surrounded by noise.

From social media and news to entertainment and constant notifications, there are countless voices competing for our attention. While many of these voices are not inherently bad, they can easily drown out the one voice we need most.

That’s why creating space to hear from God is crucial.

This might mean putting your phone aside, turning off distractions, and spending time in prayer and Scripture. It might feel unusual at first, but over time, it becomes essential—like a daily reset for your soul.

In tough times, this connection becomes even more important. When decisions feel complex and emotions run high, hearing from God provides clarity and peace.

As a church in Manchester, we are encouraging people to rediscover this rhythm—time with God that is consistent, intentional, and life-giving.

Because ultimately, it’s not just about getting through tough times. It’s about growing deeper in our relationship with God through them.
