Living with Purpose – Joseph’s Secret to Resilience

Purpose is the reason why you exist, and it is God—not circumstances—who defines it. Joseph’s life makes this clear. Despite betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, he lived with purpose and resilience.

The Bible says, “You are a chosen people… God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). Joseph understood this truth long before it was written. Even in prison, he used his God-given gift of interpreting dreams to bless others.

Two years after interpreting the dreams of Pharaoh’s baker and cupbearer, Joseph was called to interpret Pharaoh’s own dream. Overnight, he went from prisoner to prime minister. Pharaoh entrusted him with a national survival plan to save lives during a famine.

Living with purpose keeps you from wasting your life on distractions and squabbles. Life is fragile; time is a gift. Yet many people think the end of life is far off, so they drift through days unproductive and unfulfilled. But living without purpose is living without perspective.

When you live with God’s purpose in mind, you use your time wisely. Like an army captain receiving daily orders from his general, you approach each day expecting God to guide and use you. Life becomes an adventure.

Joseph’s story invites you to ask: “If I had only 100 days to live, how would I spend them?” When you answer that question honestly, you begin to live intentionally, investing in what counts for eternity.
