Living with New Account Features

Romans 5:12–21 (Summary)

Over this series, we’ve explored three powerful truths from Romans 5:12–21:

  1. We all have a life account with God—and without Him, it’s bankrupt.

  2. Jesus offers us the ultimate upgrade, turning our deficit into surplus.

  3. His grace gives us endless credit—security that lasts forever.

So how do we live with these new account features?

  1. Keep your spiritual balance in view.
Just as you might check your bank account to make sure you’re not overspending, regularly examine your heart before God. Confess sin quickly, celebrate His goodness daily, and remember the cost of your freedom.
  2. Use your upgraded features.
If you got a new phone but never explored its capabilities, you’d miss out. In the same way, don’t ignore the “features” Jesus has given you—peace that passes understanding, joy in trials, hope for the future, and power to forgive.
  3. Rely on your endless credit.
When you stumble, don’t wallow in guilt—draw on God’s grace. When you’re weary, lean on His strength. When the enemy accuses, point to the cross.

Paul’s teaching here is both sobering and liberating. Sobering because Adam’s sin shows us the seriousness of living apart from God. Liberating because Jesus has done what we could never do—paying our debt and filling our account forever.

And here’s the final takeaway: unlike the constant upgrades in our tech-saturated world, God’s upgrade never glitches, never expires, and never needs replacing. It’s the one account feature you can trust completely.

So today, remember:

  • You have an account with God.
  • An upgrade is available.
  • You can enjoy endless credit.

The offer stands. The account is ready. The question is—will you log in?
