The Holy Spirit and Fire: The Power Behind Revival
What caused the bones to live in Ezekiel 37? What turned a pile of dry, disconnected bones into a mighty army? It wasn’t a strategy. It wasn’t emotion. It wasn’t Ezekiel’s charisma. It was the breath of God — the Holy Spirit.
We must never forget: Revival is not man-made. It is not the product of a well-organised event or powerful preaching. It is the result of the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit and fire moving through willing vessels. No matter how beautiful the church building, how skilled the musicians, or how educated the preacher, without the Holy Spirit, it is all a lifeless form.
When the wind of God blew through that valley in Ezekiel’s vision, dead bones were revived, order was restored, and an army stood to its feet. That same wind blew again on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2 tells us that there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the room where they were sitting. Tongues of fire rested on each of them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit, and revival exploded.
That same Holy Spirit is still moving today.
We don’t need a new Spirit. We need a fresh surrender. The Holy Spirit hasn’t changed, but many believers have grown cold. Many churches have settled for entertainment over encounter, programs over power, comfort over conviction. And yet Psalm 85:6 still cries out: “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”
True revival is not hype. It is not noise for noise’s sake. It is not a temporary emotional high. True revival is when the fire of the Holy Spirit consumes every part of you, your desires, your thoughts, your lifestyle, and your words. It burns up compromise. It destroys the yoke of bondage. It awakens a holy passion that refuses to be silenced.
Revival is when the Holy Spirit has full access. Not just on Sundays. Not just during a worship song. But every day, in every moment. It is the presence of God filling every dry and broken place.
The Bible says, “It is the anointing that destroys the yoke” (Isaiah 10:27). That anointing comes from the Holy Spirit. It’s what heals bodies, breaks addictions, restores marriages, and sets the captives free. It’s not in us — it’s in Him. And when He is given full reign, transformation happens.
So today, stop relying on your strength. Stop trying to manufacture revival. Invite the wind. Invite the fire. Yield to the Holy Spirit.
Because when He moves, dry bones live again. And when He fills you, you don’t just experience revival — you carry it everywhere you go.
