Flexibility is Worship
Another powerful lesson from Obed-Edom’s life is that flexibility is an act of worship.
After hosting the Ark, Obed-Edom didn’t return to his old life. He flexed again – learning a musical instrument and becoming a worship leader (1 Chronicles 15:21; 1 Chronicles 16:5). He pivoted from guarding to leading worship!
When God calls us into something new, it’s an opportunity for worship. Peter had to leave the familiar life of fishing behind to become a shepherd of people. I left the business world to become a pastor. It required massive life shifts – but it was all for worship.
Worship isn’t limited to singing. It’s found in how we read the Bible, how we pray, how we think. If your Bible reading has gone stale, flex it up! Listen to an audio Bible, start journaling, or try a different version.
If your thought life feels dry, ask the Holy Spirit to fill your mind with God’s possibilities and promises. Your mentality can be an act of worship if you invite God into it.
When we flex, we inspire others. Just like Levi flexed his musical abilities and now leads worship, each small act of worship creates a ripple effect.
