Flexibility is Gatekeeping

When Obed-Edom experienced God’s presence in his home, it changed him. He went from caretaker to gatekeeper in Jerusalem. We see him serving in 1 Chronicles 15:24–25 and 1 Chronicles 16:24 – guarding the sacred spaces, ensuring worship remained reverent and ordered.

Gatekeepers weren’t glamorous. They directed people during big events, guarded the treasures, and maintained the peace. Today, we need spiritual gatekeepers too! Those who steward church spaces, ministries, and people’s hearts with care and diligence.

Maybe your gate is serving on a welcome team, helping with set-upsecurityfinance, or even prayer ministry. God is calling some of you to step up. You might even need to rearrange your schedule – flexibility always costs something.

A few years ago, we literally slept in a marquee during a church outreach event to prevent vandalism! We stood guard to protect what God was doing.

Friends, if we want God to entrust us with more, we must find and guard our gates faithfully. What role is God calling you to step into in this season? Check out the serving opportunities at church – there’s a place for everyone.

Flexibility isn’t just about movement; it’s about responsible stewardship.
